Fossil Fuel Combustion
Carbon Monoxide and nitrogen oxide are created when fossil fuels are burned, such as by motor vehicles, tools, gas heaters, and cooking equipment. Carbon Monoxide is colorless, odorless, and tasteless, meaning that it is nearly impossible to realize when it is present in the air. Carbon monoxide seeps into buildings and creates bad indoor air quality. Nitrogen oxide contributes to smog and acid rain.

Construction
Gases and dust from construction and building materials come from paints, spray paints, newly installed floors, and other chemicals used to refurbish items. These gases, which are toxic to all living things, float around in the air as particulates and contribute to serious air pollution.
